English III
About Course
English III is a literature-focused course designed to develop students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and literary analysis skills through selected poems and plays. The course introduces learners to meaningful literary works such as The Rain, Loveliest of Trees, Man of Words and Not of Deeds, Visit to a Small Planet, and Heat Lightning.
Throughout the course, students explore important themes including nature, beauty, time, responsibility, human behaviour, suspense, fear, humour, and social criticism. Each chapter includes guided reading, vocabulary support, literary devices, interpretation notes, discussion prompts, activities, and knowledge checks to help learners understand both the surface meaning and deeper message of each text.
By the end of this course, students will be able to identify themes, symbols, imagery, tone, setting, character, dialogue, and dramatic tension. They will also strengthen their ability to write critical appreciations, answer comprehension questions, express personal responses, and analyze literature with confidence.
